A Journey of Learning, Teaching, and Non-Profit Empowerment

Join my journey with Aikyam Fellows, where I went from building websites to empowering nonprofits with tools like KoboToolbox, and online sessions—making a positive impact in the digital world.

In January, I started working with Aikyam Fellows, where I got into using technology to help non-profit organisations. My first job was making websites for these groups, and that's where my journey began.

While working on various projects, my mentor, Shemeer, taught me how technology could make a big difference for non-profits. It wasn't just about making websites; it was about making them more visible and discoverable so they could reach more people.

I also learned about project management tools, and one that became really important for me was Mattermost. It made working on projects with my team much easier because we could collaborate seamlessly.

But the tool that stole my heart was KoboToolbox. At first, I thought it was just for collecting data efficiently, but the more I used it, the more I saw its potential to change how nonprofits handle their information. That motivated me to become really good at using KoboToolbox.

I didn't stop at learning; I started teaching others too. I started taking online sessions for non-profits to show them how to use KoboToolbox effectively. Seeing these organisations learn to use their data in powerful ways made me really happy. I am also making videos. If they ever have questions about KoboToolbox later on, they can watch the videos to find answers.

At the start, I was a bit nervous about leading these sessions. It was my first time, and I wasn't sure how good I would be at teaching. But as the organisations got involved, asking questions and wanting to understand more, I started to see the positive effect of my training. Their excitement to learn made me feel confident that what I was doing was really helping them. This became a big achievement for me in my journey.

From being a beginner to an advanced user of KoboToolbox, my journey with it reflects my overall experience with Aikyam Fellows. I began wanting to help nonprofits with technology, and I learned that it's not just about websites and data collection. It's about giving these organisations the tools and knowledge they need to do well in the digital world.

In a world where technology is making big changes, my time with Aikyam Fellows has shown me the impact of connecting nonprofits with tech solutions. Looking back on my journey, I realise I am not just a tech enthusiast; I am someone who helps bring positive change to the nonprofit sector.
